A discussion is gaining traction on social media over an unusual apartment in Almaty that the listing’s author, a realtor, described as a true «work of art.»

The property is located at the intersection of Panfilov and Tole Bi streets in a well-known building constructed in 1955 and recognized locally for its tower-like silhouette. Built in the Stalinist Empire architectural style, the building is now designated as an architectural monument.

Apartment with rare private terrace

According to the listing, the 52.5-square-meter apartment is located on the third floor and includes a legally registered private terrace measuring 18.5 square meters.

The building, which formerly housed Kazpotrebsoyuz (Kazakh Consumer Cooperative Union), contains 24 apartments, while the ground floor is occupied by office space.

Social media users praise design and atmosphere

Users quickly filled the comment section with reactions, many praising the apartment’s design and noting what they described as a restrained, timeless aesthetic free from overly trendy elements.

Some commenters expressed surprise that the historic structure includes residential units, while others said a private terrace in the city’s historic center represents a rare opportunity.

Designers confirm involvement

The project’s designers later joined the online discussion, saying their studio, GC Group, was responsible for the interior design and renovation of the apartment.
