US prepares to drop declassified UFO records

The U.S. government registered the domain aliens.gov on Wednesday, sparking speculation about its intended purpose. While it could be tied to immigration enforcement, that explanation appears unlikely, according to reporting by 404 Media.
The domain is not yet linked to an active website. Its registration follows remarks made about a month earlier by Donald Trump, who said he planned to push for the release of government records related to extraterrestrial life and UFOs.

Reports of UFOs — now more commonly referred to as unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAP — have drawn significant public attention in recent years. That interest cooled somewhat after The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. military had, at times, manufactured evidence of alien technology and allowed speculation to spread in order to conceal classified weapons programs.
The topic resurfaced in February when former President Barack Obama discussed extraterrestrial life during an interview with commentator Brian Tyler Cohen.
Political reaction and declassification push
Days later, Trump was asked about the issue during a press briefing aboard Air Force One. He later addressed the matter on his platform, Truth Social, citing strong public interest.
In his post, Trump said he would direct relevant government departments to begin identifying and releasing files related to extraterrestrial life, UAPs and UFOs.
Pattern of high-profile disclosures
The proposed release of such records aligns with a broader pattern during Trump’s administration of declassifying documents tied to long-standing public speculation. This has included files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and to financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Some of those disclosures — particularly those involving Epstein — have had far-reaching consequences, including the emergence of previously undisclosed details about victims and the release of sensitive materials.
